Project Management
Construction runs in the Thomason family. For Johnny Thomason, it started the same way it does for a lot of people in this industry — cleaning up job sites as a kid.
Growing up, Johnny spent summers working alongside his older brother Kenny, learning the rhythm of a job site before he ever had a title or a paycheck worth bragging about. He swept floors, moved materials, and absorbed more than anyone probably realized. When he graduated high school, he took a different path before coming back to the trades — serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That experience shaped him in ways that show up every day in how he works with people: patient, positive, and genuinely good to be around.
When Johnny returned, he went to work for Dignity Plumbing, getting his hands dirty in the field and learning the operational side of a growing company. But his next chapter would be his biggest classroom yet.
Johnny joined the team at MJ Dean Construction on one of the most ambitious and high-profile construction projects in Las Vegas history — the MSG Sphere. He came in as a document control specialist, and did what Thomasons apparently do: figured it out, impressed the right people, and got asked to do more. He was pulled onto the scheduling team and quickly became responsible for updating the master schedule and creating detailed mini-schedules across the duration of the project. On a job the size and complexity of the Sphere, that’s not a small thing. Every trade, every deadline, every sequence — Johnny owned it.
He brought everything he learned on that project back to Thomason Construction, where he now serves as Project Manager. He bridges the gap between the field and the office — tracking schedules, managing documentation, and keeping projects moving with a level of organization that only comes from working on something as demanding as the Sphere.
Johnny is also, for the record, one of the most enjoyable people to have on a team. He brings a positivity to the job that is genuinely contagious — sometimes, admittedly, even when the situation might call for a little more urgency. But that’s Johnny. He finds a way to make the work better just by showing up, and the people around him are better for it.
Five years in, Johnny Thomason is just getting started.
